Syngenta will continue to feature in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes in 2008/09. On 4th September 2008 Sustainable Asset Management, the Zurich based sustainability rating company, together with Dow Jones Indexes and STOXX Limited, announced the 2008/09 index composition.

On 24 January, the Italian research institute Nomisma presented a study that looks into the future challenges for European agriculture. It concludes that EU farm output of key crops will reduce dramatically if the latest revision of EU Directive 91/414 on the commercialization of crop protection products is carried out.
